London Sightseeing Trips |
Whether you’re stopping for a weekend or staying for a week, London has a fabulous number of attractions to offer. From the changing of the Buckingham Palace guards to an outstanding range of museums and galleries, there’s something for everyone in London!
Hotels – Hotels in London can range from cheap to bank breaking, but you can often find some really good deals if you look around. Check outmilleniumhotels.co.uk, they often have special offers and room packages on London hotels to suit your budget. Try searching the internet for special meal vouchers too, as many London restaurants have deals on throughout the year which can save up to 50%!
Buckingham Palace – Open from 23rd July to 3rd October, the Buckingham Palace state rooms attract thousands of visitors each year as the Queen leaves to allow a unique glimpse into her stunning palace. For the 2011 opening guests can also see the dress worn by Kate Middleton as she wed Prince William to become the Duchess of Cornwall as it stands on display in the palace. An adult entry will cost £17.50, or you can choose to have an exclusive tour with an expert guide, lasting for two hours with a cost of £65 per person.
Museums & Galleries – From the Science Museum to the Tate Modern (both of which are free), London’s eclectic mix of museums and galleries is one of the best in the world and should not be missed. The Science Museum is great for kids, whilst the Tate Modern has a mix of permanent pieces, seasonal exhibits and huge installations in the Turbine Hall. Others worth mentioning include the Saatchi Gallery, National History Museum, Imperial War Museum and the London Transport Museum.
Other Attractions –
Madame Tussauds waxwork exhibition is one of London’s most popular attractions, housing full scale wax models of a variety of celebrities, from David Beckham to Robbie Williams. Tickets cost £28.80 for an adult, or £14.40 if you book online and arrive after 6pm.
The London Eye is also well worth a visit, offering views across London. From its place on the edge of the River Thames you’ll see the Houses of Parliament and Tower Bridge (two attractions in themselves), and tickets cost around £16 for the half hour trip round the wheel. You can also go on a Thames boat tour which will take you past all of the famous riverside landmarks, including the clock tower which houses the world famous Big Ben Bell, from around £10. Alternatively you can pay £25 for a combined ticket for both the London Eye and the boat cruise.
